Vultron International is a leading manufacturer and installer of electronic information display systems principally for passenger transport applications.

Vultron International was originally established in the UK in 1980 by American parent Vultron Incorporated of Michigan with a view to marketing Vultron display products in Europe.  In 1986 Vultron purchased a UK based LCD manufacturing facility and thereby gained access to a technology which was becoming extremely popular at the time.  In 2003 the company was acquired by long-serving Managing Director John Moorhouse.  Since then Vultron International has continued to produce and supply bus, rail and airport passenger information systems for the European market from its headquarters on the outskirts of Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Vultron continues to pride itself on being at the forefront of the design and development of display technology and in being responsive and innovative in meeting the individual requirements of its customers.

Product Technologies

‘Clearsign’ Liquid Crystal Displays contain no moving parts and can be configured in a variety of shapes and sizes. Vultron’s LCDs utilise Extended Twisted Nematic technology to give a wide viewing angle, high contrast and excellent legibility.

High Intensity Light Emitting Diode Displays
Individual ultra-bright LEDs which are soldered directly to a circuit board in various pixel arrangements to obtain the desired character sizes.  LED displays are available with a range of intensities, viewing angles and colours.

TFT Screens
Short for thin film transistor, a type of LCD flat-panel display screen, in which each pixel is controlled by from one to four transistors. The TFT technology provides the best resolution of all the flat-panel techniques.  Vultron offer a range of screen sizes in both standard and ruggedised versions.

Principal Markets

On Board Bus Systems
One of Vultron International’s principal markets is the design, manufacture and supply of on board bus destination signs and route number indicators for the coach and bus industry.  Contracts include bus destination display systems for Passenger Transport Authorities across Europe.

Bus Station Displays (Electronic Passenger Information Systems, EPIS)
As well as on-board systems, Vultron also specialises in producing and installing bus station arrival / departure boards, departure stand signs and other products designed to convey important passenger information effectively and reliably.  In 1996 Vultron installed one of the first integrated bus station display systems in Leeds on behalf of METRO – West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.  This successful contract led to further installations at 8 major bus stations in West Yorkshire and to many more installations of display systems at bus stations throughout the UK.

Railway Station & Airport Displays
In addition to the coach and bus market Vultron is a leading supplier to the rail industry and airports.  Whether using ‘Clearsign’ LCD or LED technologies Vultron passenger display systems can be seen at many mainline stations throughout the UK and more than 30 airports in 11 countries.

In recent years Vultron has developed a range of low maintenance LCD and LED Clocks designed specifically for railway stations. The latest design utilises Radio Data Service (RDS) on the VHF / FM wave band for greatly enhanced signal reception.

Commercial Signage

Allied to the major passenger transport markets, Vultron’s display systems are also in demand for many commercial applications. One of the world’s largest Car Rental companies, for example, uses Vultron displays for its prestigious rental locations.  Other applications include sporting venue scoreboards, company staff information boards, hotel customer information boards, trailer-mounted or fixed-site highway signs, industrial site safety displays and car park signs.

The Future

Vultron’s success has been built upon the company’s total commitment to innovative design, optimum product quality and performance and the very highest level of customer service and support. These three key components, coupled with a well-defined marketing strategy, are at the heart of the company’s development.

The future looks bright!
